After seeing the care and detail put into assembly, and finding absolutely no foreign material in the pan, Fuelie and I agreed that further disassembly was unwarranted.

As soon as the new, shorter oil-pump pickup and dipstick for the new Moroso oilpan arrive, we'll be covering it all up. Right now I'm re-painting the new Moroso pan from Chevy Orange to Corvette Bright Red.

By the way, thanks to Brian (Fuelie) for his interest and help on the project. Along with my neighbour, Doug, we are making progress.

Oh, I guess some of you may not recognize what a ZZ-502 looks like from underneath. Now you know.

wow, what an awesome looking motor! With the matching red paint to the car it's going to look great in the car

BTW, an interesting aside here......at the car show I was at on Sun there were a few very custom fabrricated bikes. One had a Chevy ZZ 4 motor in it and the other had a Chevy ZZ 502. I've been riding bikes for over 30 years but the idea of riding a bike with a ZZ 502 on it considering the total weight of the bike with the motor is less than a 1000lbs just scares the living daylights out of me!! Even the power of the bike with the ZZ 4 in it is just too radical. Forget the speed factor of these motors on a chopper, just the incredible amount of torgue is WAY too much. talk about going to extremes on custom bikes.

I think your big block is what gearheads have in mind when they use the expression "a beefy engine" but it's hard to truly appreciate that monster sitting still.
