LT4 Excessive end play in Hot Cam for LT4

With only the hot cam in place and retaining plate tightened I have .12 inch of play front to back. How can I remedy this? What type shims are used?

I found the cure. Bolt the sprocket onto the cam to sandwich the retaining plate and all is now OK.
