Hello,
I have a corvette 1979 model : EXECUTIVE EDITION
VIN : 1ZY8789S419837

Is there anybody could give some informations cause i don't
find anything about my car

Thank's

François from France

You may want to check your VIN again, you have one letter- "Y"- that does not belong there.

In any case the only info that can be determined from your VIN is that this car originally came with the L48 engine.

I've never heard of an executive edition, can you give more details?

Yes
it's a car i have baught last year in suizerland
i have made a mistake in the VIN. You have to read
1Z8789S419837
it is equipped with front and rear spoiler in 2 colors lihgt brown and gold.
the first date of traffic is 04.01.1979. first of april

Hmmm...April 1st? Executive edition? Maybe GM is playing a joke on you. :confused :D

didn't corvette have a 82 Collectors Edition? with similar color scheme

I don't think this paint job is from the factory, it must have been added by some previous owner. From your VIN number, the car was built towards the last week of January 1979 and as said before, originally had the L48 engine.

What does the trim tag on the drivers side pillar post say?

Congrats on the '79---in France, no less!

I had two '79s, both with the spoilers, AND I saw a few two-tone color combinations. I wanted to order the second one, not in red, as I did, but in a red-based two tone., which was not available.

I wonder how the export cars were different; perhaps in designation, like Executive Edition.

Back then they didnt make Export Cars. All of them were built for the US market and some exported them on their own dime.
The color scheme sounds like a CE but the year obviously doesnt match up..
Maybe through a pic up so we can take a look at it.
No matter what 'it' is: Congrats on the car, it is a Vette !

Bon chance mon ami..

what says that it is an "Executive Edition"? Is there badges, is that on the title, or is that just what the salesman told you?

Hi,
the label is engraved on the rear window.

Could it have been a "brass hat" or GM exec's car?

hello, i suspect someone wanted to make the car appear special by etching the name in the window. i doubt there were many one-off models after bill mitchell retired from GM
