I found a guy that wants to sell me a Z06 Ti Exhaust with 35k miles on it for $400+ shipping

35K sounds like a lot of miles. Is it?
Does the fact of it being Ti make the miles a mute point?

I have seen many Tis that only have a couple of thousand miles on them go for that on ebay...

They can be had for that price with much lower mileage though. See if you can use the miles as a negotiating point to lower the $$. Also, shipping costs on large items (even lightweight items) can be heart stopping - verify before you commit to the sale.

Find out what exhaust system he's buying to replace his Titanium System. Then purchase one of those for your car. It will probably sound and look beter that either your current system or the other guys Ti system.

Funny you mentioned that. I was just listening to the Corsa turing exhause online -

I was looking for something deep and throaty when i get on it, but quiet at cruise speeds. I wanted to go with the Ti because at least its OEM but now im very interested in the Corsa Touring

I just put the Touring with Pro tips on my 98 coupe but did the Bassani x-pipe at the same time. IMHO --- do both. It evens out the exhaust pulses side to side, is worth a couple more HP, and gets rid of the snapping and popping (that is pretty loud) when you back off of the throttle on the touring pipes...(unless you really like that kind of thing --- I thought it cheapened the sound of the car)............Doing both is definitely worth it. I spend a couple of minutes every time I park it, standing at the back listening before I shut if off.........also, the system is probably quieter than stock when you are cruising on the freeway. But what a sound under WOT!!!!!

Corsa Touring is a nice system. Even with the top down on a convertible, it sounds very good. No resonance and it growls when you get on it.

I'd love to see Borla Stingers offered in titanium. I'd also love to see cross drilled brake rotors (at a reasonable price) offered in titanium.

Nothing like saving weight.

Titanium's claim to fame is based solely on its strength to weight which is better than aluminum. But like aluminum its fairly soft and damages easily. The real bulletproof exhaust systems are made of stainless steel.

Aluminum at one time was more valuable than gold or platinum, then someone discovered a way to produce it inexpensively. But compared to iron or steel, per lb. aluminum is still expensive. Sooner or later titanium prices will come down; there is an awful lot ot it being used now and the price premium on most items is minor. For example - I have a titanium revolver at home and I'm wearing a titanium watch, both benefit from low weight.

Suggest you look at GHL catbacks if you want pipes engineered for lack of resonance at highway speeds.

You have a titanium revolver? I've seen those in the CDNN catalog but didn't know if they were the brand name or actually made of titanium.

I also have a titanium watch, it's a Seiko. Love it, it's so light weight, like I'm not wearing a watch at all.

They'll use titanium more and it'll end up lowering the cost of it. Both Z06 models use titanium and it may just be a test of what they can use it on and how much it would cost.

Edmond - Yeah, the watch is a Seiko Chronograph with a sapphire crystal and I bought it for the same reason - incredible light weight. I found it at a Seiko factory outlet in Branson, MO. The revolver is a Taurus Tracker, 7 shot, 357 magnum with 4 inch barrel; only the barrel liner and firing pin are steel - unloaded it feels like an empty plastic water pistol. Its legal to hunt with pistol with a 4" or longer barrel, so I carry it as a backup gun when deer hunting (if you hunt enough sooner or later your primary gun will malfunction at the wrong time).

I have the new Eckler's catalog and they claim for the Borla Stingers that "It's lighter than a titanium system." But on one of these threads a member weighed the Stingers and found them to be heavier than the ZO6 exhaust.

I'll take the word of the member over some catalog pitch writer. But you can look at the Stinger and you just know if they made it in Titanium it would be a good bit lighter than the ZO6 exhaust.

I'd pay $200, maybe $300, more for a Stinger in Titanium.
