Recently, I noticed an exhaust manifold leak on my 81. I won't go into great detail about removing the manifolds except to say that after completing the repair I am now in therapy.:W
While performing the repair I noticed I have two spark plug wire heat shields on the passenger side, one for the front two plugs and one for the rear. Concerning the left side; I have one that covers the rear two plugs only. Is there suppose to be a front heat shield for the wires on the drivers side?
If the answer is yes, does any one have this shield they would part with?
Thanks!
Bill;help

Hi Bill. Good question. I removed all the stock exhaust last winter and I think there never was a sheild for those plugs. I really cant remember for sure. Maybe another 81 guy chime in.

I have tried to find out how many originally came on the '81's but to no avail. If you have hang on to them.the ONLY place you might be able to find one is on a unmolested vette.generally they were removed & thrown out because they were a PIA!!!
Our manifolds are 1 year only manifolds which probably explains why the shields are so difficult to find for our vettes!
I have some here, they did come off of a Chevy small block, but they don't fit my vette :mad
I have had to deal with the manifolds in the past and my therapy involved
lots of :beer so I know how you are coping!!!!:thumb:thumb

If you look in the radio option section of the Assembly Manual, it'll show you exactly what the original ignition shielding looked like. :thumb
