I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust on my 2006 and have been looking at the Corsa Sport, a very pricey alternative.

Yesterday, Hib replied to an exhaust upgrade question in the C5 Forum that a used 2001-2004 Z06 exhaust would be an option on a 1999FRC C5 at a much more reasonable cost.

Does anyone know if the C6 Z06 exhaust is a viable option for upgrading the exhaust on my 2006 six speed automatic?

I don't think it is possible...but I'm not a super authority on this subject. The aftermarket exhausts are all I have ever heard that people switch to, and they are not cheap. I think a C6 Z06 exhaust probably would be pricey, also, if it can be done. My preference is the Borla Stingers, and I've put them on a 2002, a 2005 and my second 2005. Love them!

The used Z06 exhausts appear to be going for around $250 though, unlike the C5 setup, it doesn't appear to be a straight swap.

Is there any drone with the Borla's?

To answer both questions about drone and popping with deceleration, the answer is yes. I have no problem, though, with either drone or the popping and actually like it. Neither issue is bothersome to me or my husband.

One thing to consider if you want to use a Z06 exhaust on your car is that the Z06 system is a 3" system, where the standard exhaust is 2.5". To make the Z exhaust fit your car, you'd need to have some adapters fitted. I just bought the Corsa Sport 14169 axle-back for my 2005 coupe and I really like it. It has a nice burble at idle, is quiet when cruising and it gets aggressive when your foot gets heavy. Paid $1229.00 shipped for it at Juiced Motorsports.

On an early C6 base car the Z06 exhaust would be at least as and likely more expensive then the Corsa because of the bi-modal feature. To retrofit that would be very expensive.

If you're looking for a system that sounds good, adds some power and is somewher less costly, take a look at Flowmaster. Back in the day, I put one on an '06 owned by a friend and he was quite happy with the sound and the cost.

The Corsa Sport is the fall back position while I look at other options. It's expensive but a known quantity.

I had come to the conclusion that Hib has shared, that the Z06 option gets expensive quickly.

I put the Flowmaster Delta 50's on my C3. I loved the sound. The problem was the drone at around 1500 - 1900 rpm, which was right at the main cruising RPM once I put a 4 speed automatic in it.

Did your friend have any problems with drone Hib?

I have the Corsa Sports on my GS and they make me smile a lot. They sound beautiful under acceleration and burble and pop a bit when winding down. I have the Cat back with the X pipe and the Sport mufflers. You will pay a bit more but won't regret it I'm thinking. At cruise 60 to 80 or 90 they are not intrusive and in fact I can hardly hear them purring away. Just my 2 cents worth.....

Not all of the Z06 cars are fitted with the NPP system; this was (and still is, I think) an option that does not come standard on the cars. You can pick up a used non-NPP system for a decent price.

All 2006-2013 Z06es have the dual mode exhaust.
All 2009-2013 ZR-1 have the dual mode exhaust.
All 2013 427 Convertibles have the dual mode exhasut
2008-2013 base models have the dual mode exhaust as an option (RPO NPP)

The comparison between 50 series Delta-Flows on a C3 and the Flowmaster cat-back for a C6 really isn't valid.

The Flowmaster cat-back for C6 has a modest amount of drone but not near what you'd get with a C3 and 50 Deltas. I have 50 Series Deltas on my C3, too, and the drone is a killer. It's a bad combination of a loud exhaust, the C3 body structure and little or no effective acoustic insulation.

The 2013 427 Convertibles got the dual mode exhaust.

I'm with Hib on the cost of installing the dual mode exhaust - it will probably cost as much or more due to the dual mode feature.
If it were me, I'd go with the Corsa exhaust.

You're right, Hib. My mistake.

Thanks for everyone's input. I've decided to go with the Corsa and will be ordering them tomorrow. Amazon has the best price I could find at just under $1,300.

Did you look at JEGS in Ohio?? I ordered mine from there, I got a great price AND free shipping!

Bob, I just paid $1229.99 for my Corsa 14169 Sport axle-back at Juiced Motorsports, and that was with free shipping. That was the best price I could find, and the site gets great reviews on various Vette forums. I was 100% satisfied with my order from them. Worth looking into before you pull the trigger.

Amazon was a little higher at $1,286 with free shipping. They will be delivered Tuesday. Still contemplating putting them on myself. I also ordered the X-pipe.
