My L98/89 model, with approxiamtely 99,000 miles(guessing) recently blew a head gasket. So I had my heads redone to be on the safe side, because the car ran so good, even with the busted gasket,.
Now 200 miles later, I'am getting blue smoke on my left bank exhaust pipe. Also, the car seems to be running hotter temp than before. The car still runs good, so I,am wondering if the mechanic could have forgotten something when putting the heads back on to cuase the smoke so quickly after the head rebuild? Any tips?

Can you tell if the smoke is from coolant or oil?

After a valve job, the combo of a tighter upper and aging lower (rings) may allow more oil to be sucked past, thence burned. Seems you'd have more smoke on decel.

If it's truly running hotter, you may have a hairline crack in the head or another leak.

Its blue smoke, so that indicates to me it is oil. My better judgement tells me it is a stuck/broken oil ring. But not sure. Will do compression(dry/wet) today to pinpoint it further. And thanks for your reply.
