I have my AC system on AUTO with the temp set at 69. It certainly seems to keep the inside cool (coup), but the ext temp reading is way off! It will read anything from high 40s to low 60s. Only occasionally registering the real outside temp.

The actual outside temperature down here is in the 90s+.

Any thoughts on what may be causing the incorrect readings and is there any problem with my not addressing this until the next scheduled maintenance?

Thanks

Tom

Hi there,
Well, this only helps your automatic climate control function quicker to changing outside conditions.
It will not hurt your system in any way.
Normally, I would say that your outside temperature sensor is defective, and would require replacement.
It is not that expensive, and is fairly easy to get to.

Thank you very much. Since it's not going to affect anything else, I'll just keep an eye on it and have it taken care of the next time i take it in. Would it read in the codes as defective?

Tom

OK. Thanks again.
