Hey Guys, I need some Alarm help. I am trying to get the factory alarm working on my 73. I have pulled the horn off the car and jumped it across a battery to verify that it works. I have checked both door jam switches and the hood switch by setting the alarm and opening the doors or hood and listening for the alarm relay to trip.(and it does) I have connected a volt meter to the alarm horn wires and get 12 volts when the alarm is tripped. So why doesn't the horn work when it is on the car? I am running out of ideas.
Part 2-- there is also an Alpine alarm system on the car that is not wired into the factory system. The Alpine works off the interior light switches on at the front of the door jams(factory alarm switches on rear of door jams) and has a separate hood switch on the drivers side of the engine compartment.(factory switch is on passenger side). This system works, but I have no owners manual with it and I don't know what all it is supposed to do. There are two buttons on the remote. The second one is not a panic button, but I don't know what it does. Also on the underside of the dash is a very small temporary hold toggle switch. What does this do? Any ideas from you guys would be appreciated. I don't have it with me, but I do have the model number of the Alpine unit if that would help anyone. Thanks Guys!!
