The rear (plastic) window in my '92 vette has faded on the outside - it is no longer shiny. It also has a number of blemishes that have spread from the edge. The inside of the window is still perfect.

Any suggestions on a cleaning agent for cleaning the plastic window and restoring the shine?

Thanks,
Andy.

Here is a link to Janvil. I purchased the plastic restorer kit with light, and heavy duty scratch remover and the polish. I used this stuff on a glass(acrylic) top I purchased used on E-Bay with very good results. It had alot of scratches on it with a few pretty good ones. I used the light stuff as I was hesitant about using an abrasive on my top, so it took a couple of tries to get it good.

I used a product called PlastX from McGuire. It did a great job on the back-up and side turn lenses. They look almost new. I cleaned the outer lenses of my wife's Ford and they went from yellow to clean and clear.

chrome polish

Chrome polish works great! It also cleans up tail light lenses as well. NASCAR uses it on their windshields. Chrome/aluminum polish is basically charcoal lighter fluid and softscrub mixed (another hint hint). It won't scratch the plastic (if it doesn't abade chrome, that's fine enough grit for me!) Although I would not use this mixture on your wheels (they are clear-coated not raw Alum). But you can mix up a large batch yourself and get the conssency you desire.

Hope this helps

Try some FLITZ. Don't know if you can find it locally, but a 4oz. tube from Eckler's cost around $12. It really does work.

glass house

skip all the cleaners, do what i did install a glass window no more problems with fading! you'll be a lot happier in the end.
