Good morning:
I've been looking on the internet for a 2002-2004 Z06, and noticed some pretty obvious scam offers. One in particular was on Vette Hound. It was a 2003 with 23,000 miles being offered for only $13,000, which was the first tip off something was wrong. Our of curiousity I sent an email to the contact asking to view and have a mechanic inspect the car. The response confirmed that this was a scam: Seller said she was an oceanographer at sea who had to sell the car quickly and that the car was at a USHIP location waiting to ship. Would not allow to inspect. USHIP doesn't hold anything in storage. This ad, which is still up, is an absolute scam.
My question is, can you pass this info along to the FBI or other enforcement agency? Do they care, or are they too busy to concern themselves with this stuff? I'd contact Vette Hound to tell them to take it down, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that either.
Is there any way to ensnare these people?
