It was raining yesterday and I turned the air on cold to keep the front windshield from fogging up. Pulling into my driveway, I turned off the air and then the windshield wipers.

When I turned the car off; the fan kept running. I disconnected the battery cable to see if it would reset. But the fan came right back on when I reconnected the battery so I left it unconnected for the night.

I went out this morning and started the car up after connecting the battery; sure enough, the fan came right on.

What is wrong here? This is the first time that anything like this has happened.

Maybe a faulty relay????

Where is the relay at and how can I check if it's faulty?

Jon,

I unplugged the relay and the fan went off. So my problem is the relay right? One of the connections seems to be burned a little bit. How do I replace it? Do I just cut it off?
The fan will go off if you unplug the relay...The relay is only about 5 bucks at your local parts store. Do to the cost, replacing is not a big deal...You just unplug it and plug in a new one...no need to cut anything... if you read my other suggestion on the other thread...

(Try removing the wire running to the back of the AC compressor...Looking at the back of the compressor its at 10 or 11 oclock. The switch may be bad and going to ground or you could have a bad relay.)

This is what happened to mine a bunch of years ago...I replaced that switch...and all was well...The only problem is you have to empty the AC in order to change that switch.

Jon,

Thank you for your help; I just replaced the relay and it works fine now. I started the car up and let it run until the fan came on. Then I shut the car off and the fan shut off when I shut the car down.

Thank you again! :beer

Trade you problems Jon, my fan won't come on. Replaced the relay, didn't help, so I guess the fan is next. It couldn't be the $5 relay, has to be the fan!:r

Could be a bad connector or ground...check to see if you are getting voltage at the connector when you ground the green and white wire at the relay. If it is the fan motor, Auto one has one for $21.99
Advanced Auto has them from 23.99

If they're that cheap, that's not so bad, I just haven't had time to take care of it lately. Thanks for the info
