Fans not blowing fast air

Ok, phew... i was able to take the blower motor out of the housing tonight.

Once out, I turned it on and the motor spun pretty good. I dont know how fast it was going exactly or how fast it should be, but was pretty good on high.

I was also able to pier into the evaporator core and looked clean. Nothing like your picture, no leaves, etc. I tried to feel inside but there was nothing on the fins, very clean.

Would replacing the blower motor increase the air flow? What is left to do?

OK you have checked out the motor and the evaporator and the check valve. I think you should check all the vacuum connections the plastic hose that was used becomes brittle after time ( And we all know our cars are not showroom new). Don't forget to check the vacuum tank in front of the left front wheel and the hose going to it. I had several leaks in the vacuum where it comes from the check valve behind the engine and tees into the vacuum line that goes to the tank and the cruise. If you get a piece of vacuum hose about 4 feet long that fits the tee connector you can connect it to the check valve and the tee which will show you if that section has a leak or not. Remember that the check valve sends vacuum to two different place's one is the cruise and the other is the doors to the heating system.

As for the surging the air is turned off when you accelerate and only works when you are cruising This was common for a couple of reasons. One was to increase performance under hard acceleration. The other was to help meet EPA emissions standard at the time (O f the two the second was probable the main reason this was done.)

If you have 12 volts at the motor, the motor should be spinning at max. rpm.

If you have money to spend, Advance Auto sells new motors without the squirrel cage for $17.00.

Take the old one with you so you can compare yours to the new one.
