1989 Callaway Twin Turbo Aerobody Coupe
Hey Scott did you sell your car or what? I see you bidding on a 1987 Callaway Corvette but it is not a 100+ car also I spoke with Callaway cars and They have not heard of any 100+ cars going up for sale . No one has even inquired about one so what is the story. How did you find a 100+ car only a hand full were made and it is like finding a unicorn Less than ten by Callaway records .I also heard an interesting story about when you bought the 1990 .

I found a 100+ convertible, automatic with 5K miles for 27K...... to bad it didn't run or shift. Had the owner not lied to me about the condition of the car it would have been in my garage.:cry

Tell us more. Inquiring minds want to know!!! :w Ike

Hey Ike, It was 88-120 I traveled to South Dakota from VA to inspect and pay for it. I was aware of many defects\damage to the paint- It needed a full repaint. But I wasn't properly informed of the mechanical condition. Upon driving the car it would not shift into 1st gear and it felt like it went from 2nd to OD and that was it for the trans. The engine had 0 boost and would not turn a tire, not even a tiny chirp. There were no knocks or detionation, but it was scary slow to drive. Upon completion of the check out drive the interior filled with smoke from the transmission. I asked the owner to reimburse me for travel expenses for lying to me (I was told the car ran fine and besides the paint was in excellect condition.). Everything went down hill from there and I walked from the deal. The car was sold sometime later- I don't know who purchased it but I was led the believe it was someone local to SD. I deleted all the pic's I had of it but 89x2 might have some of it- he has everything CALLAWAY!

Turbo Joe - I'll look for the pics - I may still have them... :confused

The car was a red stock-body 'vert w/ the 100+ and blistered hood w/ big Wonderbar and auto trans :cool

Magic Dragon: I know how those long trips and disappointment go. BTDT! At least everything was close to as desribed on#59. Sure will be glad to have it done. A question for Callaway TT owners. How noisy are the fuel pumps mine seems quite noisy?? Thanks Ike

The fuel pump is a little noisy, more so when the tank is low on fuel. I wouldn't say they are very noisy.

Callaway went with a big Bosch fuel pump. Just like the one in the picture. I find it to be about as noisy as the stock pump. Not a good idea to run the TT car hard with low fuel levels, since the fuel tends to go away from the pickup during hard acceleration, and cause a lean condition. NO BUENO !!

Scott, I do not believe this guy to be interested in an online auction but I will pass along the word the car is still avail.

what is the 224mph 700TT :confused about the closest thing on e-bay right now is a TT Audi A8 sedan :confused

...I thought you bought an AeroBody 100+ Callaway already??

Thanks - I'll let you know about my friend & your car for sale :m

Interesting car and a real enticing "Buy it now" price :eek

A fella down the road a bit from me has two of those - One is a 427 TT coupe and the other is a 5.7L or 6.3L (it was a street racer type car so I really am unsure on this one) Twin Turbo coupe

Guy had 4 or 5 Callaway TT's over the years too :eek

...he is always buying/selling :v

...something you may be interested in-

Scott, that car didn't ever "meet reserve" - FWIW, there is a LPE 427 TT down the road from me for sale... It was apparently used in a magazine shootout and is bright yellow in color.

Interested???

Also - Got any pics of the 100+ car you bought?? I hope to see it at Carlisle this August, or sooner - those are RARE cars! :upthumbs

Scott, I looked at my above, and should have listed the asking price - He is looking for $68,500 obo (he paid at least $79k two years ago and I was offered the car 3 yrs ago for $120k and thought...:ugh )

At any rate, good luck w/ the 100+ car - I am certain that everyone here would really like to see/hear more about the car :upthumbs

Are you planning on making Carlisle at the end of August???????
