Faux or functional?

Side scoops (the ones in front of the doors). What do they do?
 
That's what I thought. They should have run ducts from the engine compartment to those vents to extract hot air.

They do extract hot air - just not very much of it as there's too much stuff between them and the air flow under the hood.
 
Thanks, Tuna. You know, there are so many things [small] GM could have done to enhance the performance of the Corvette.....but I guess they needed to leave a little room for aftermarket upgrades.
 
And they also vent heat from the most important part of the electronics.
True.... I had not thought of that.

I think if they vented the engine compartment through there, every time you ran through a puddle of water or an errant sprinkler system that was spraying the street, you’d shoot dirty old road water down the sides of the car.
