i bought a pr coupe in sept and decided to try to trade it for a vert this spring. the dealer i bought the coupe from said.he had to order some verts and he'd order one for me th eorder went in 2/28 and as of yet hasn't been picked up yet. maybe it'sme but i really don't think you should have to run around and beg dealers to accept your order for a $50,000 + car. it's easy lose $ in business but it must take a real bunch of fools to lose over a billion dollars but with their attitude i can see how gm managed it.i guess i'll stick with the coupe or maybe a more exotic convertible

kerbeck

[i=6 Shooter]i://www.kerbeck.com/kerbeck/kerbeck.nsf/new_corvette_inventory[/QUOTE]I e mailed kerbeck 2 or 3 times to see if they were interested( and i'm only about 50 miles away. and they never replied that's exactly what i meant about chasing them around trying to buy a very expensive car from them.so i guess i'll keep the coupe but if kerbeck or any other dealer is interested write me bob

i ordered my z51 coupue jan 24. no build date yet

i cant even get a build date on a coupue that i "thought i bought" in jan. they keep telling me call back next month. no build date yet.
this is my dream car (i think its just a dream). i have been waiting for 50 years to do this.
yes. i am a 50 year old woman in love with the z51. i ordered silver/silver with polished wheels and all extras excpt the xfm and no navagator. i hope this car will do better than my WS6 did. poor thing!!!

I Gave Up With The Dealer Someone Read My Post Had The Exact Car I Wanted With Only A Few Hundred Miles On It At A Fair Price So I Bought It. Why Not Try Posting What You're Looking For And Perhaps A Forum Member Or Dealer Will Help It Worked For Me Bob

i've learned my lesson the next time gm introduces a new vette. i'm going to wait a few months and pick up a used no more of going through this allocation crap and dealers who can't get product to sell to stay in business. i'm still amaxed that a car company can spend years taking polls and surveys about what people want in their new cars.etc. spend millions designing and testing a new model, then on publicity ., whipping the public into a frenzy to get their hands on one then turning them away at the dealership saying we don't have any and we're not sure when or if we ever will. i mean what's the point ? no wonder they'll lose over a billion.there's no underestimating the stupidity of a car company. so it'll be used for me from now on

The allocation system that GM uses for dealers / corvettes is terrible.

It does not permit customers to order the car they want from the dealer they want to deal with. It keeps prices artificially high and frustrates the customer.

What other business prevents the customer from ordering a high-price product from the dealer that they want to deal with?

The system encourages dealers to order stock units then trade them around with other dealers.

Just my two cents.

and gm is surprised that they're losing over a billion $?

The Hell With Gm

Got An E Mail From Scott In Indiana He Had A Dsom , Vert, 6 Speed, isbn,xm,nav Everything I Wanted With A Few Hundred Miles On It At A Very Fair Price. A No Brainer As Far As I'm Concerned . I Said Deal And A Few Weeks Later Had The Car Picked Up In Indiana And Brought To Jersey.it's Now In My Garage. After I Agreed To The Deal My Chevy Dealer Called And Said My Order Was Picked Up That My Car Would Be In Around The 4th Of July I Said 5 Months Towait For A Car? Not Me . Your Cars Coming In By July 4th I Don't Want It Anymore. He Agreed With Me And Said Fine.and We All Lived Happily Ever After. Now If It Would Just Stop Raining And Get Out Of The 40's And 50's I'll Be Happy

Who is Scott in Indiana?

scott in indiana is a guy not a dealer who had a car he was selling

It is a shame that something like this happened but in all honesty, I think it's more of a dealership issue than a issue with GM as the whole.

I'm sure there are great dealerships out there and then there are the not so great dealerships out there.

GM's losses are due to more then just one factor. The problem with their allocation system on the Corvette is like the budgets for public schools......the more a dealer sells, the more he's allocated the next year. I'm sure if you wanted an Impala or Malibu there would be no problem. The Corvette is more of a "specialty" car therefore harder to keep up with the demand.

Still in all, to wait until July is out of hand. The dealer more then likely could have gone to another Chevy dealer to locate a vert. It's sounding more and more like Chevy got caught with their collective pants down on how well the C-6 would sell. Throw in one assembly line for two models and you're toast.

I think I'll keep my 88...:)

It's no secret GM dealerships in general (Caddy aside) SUCK. I love the Caddy dealership near me, but they have no one qualified to touch a C5.

GM is losing billions, why doesn't it spend some jack improving the dealerships. Divert some marketing budget it's not doing them any good. Any company that uses "An American Revolution" and builds jack **** here in the States is DOOMED.

Maybe these guys will come up with a decent sports car one of these days:

0 for 2 on Caddy dealerships here.

I am no friend of GM dealers, despite (or maybe because of) buying dozens of GM cars since I was a kid. I'm in the greater Phoenix area, and this huge market, close to 4 million people, doesn't have a Chevy dealer that I can make a deal with. Right after the first of this year I was shopping for a C6, and the most dealers didn't have them - kind of understandable, no problem. The couple dealers that did wanted 5 -7 grand over sticker, and were azholes about it to boot. They literally wouldn't get off their chairs to greet customers. These dealers seem to forget that what goes around, comes around. And we can see that things are now coming around.

I shopped the net for the car I wanted, and found it at a medium sized dealer in North Carolina. I negotiated and sealed the deal over the net, including a late model trade in. It was an entirely positive transaction, and I was more than pleased with the car and the reception in NC. The crap that goes on between some dealers (with GM's implied backing), and the customer just doesn't have to be that way. So, hats off to the dealers that understand that it's a far better thing to leave customers smiling after a deal.

As far as GM is concerned, all I can say is that Toyota can find great dealers - why can't you? My apolgies to those good GM dealers out there.
