Fiberglass Hood Question

Well it looks like I am going to have to replace the hood on my 79 L-82 for a taller fiberglass one if I ever expect to get a decent air cleaner on the carb and close the hood. With the Edelbrock Performer intake and the Edelbrock 750 I can only use the Edelbrock Pro Flo air cleaner. Now I am hearing bad things about it. My question is this, does anyone know a supplier of fiberglass hoods in the Chicago area? I thought at one time I had heard of one...Thanks, Andy

check with Mid America Motorworks, they are in Effingham. i am using an Eckler's high rise. it does a great job of providing clearance. however the fit isn't all that great in the front point.
howver, i know the car was previously wrecked in front. so maybe the body wasn't re-assembled as good as could be!

If you find another hood, let me know, I may just buy your old one off of you, mine has a large hole in it and needs to be replaced.

is the edelbrock carb taller the demon's???

i've got an rpm air gap intake and demon carb and use a drop base w/ 2.5in knn filter. I have enough room to close my hood.

Jenshammer, too bad your hood is different than my 74. i am going to put my hood up for sale at the winter NCRS meet in Orlando/Kissimmee this january
