so today i finally get a full 2 days off from work since i first got the 72.
it was such a great day.
i stayed up all night fixing all the little electrical gremlins that i could,
back up lights-check
turn signals-check
all 4 headlights turn on-check
tag light-check

today i finally got the car to pass tx inspection and transferred the title.

then finally i dropped the top and drove about 250 miles (=50 bucks worth of gas which was totally worth it) testing things out.

first if you take the top off in august in texas
put on sunblock

second, i found out my heater core is busted, drivers side floorboard is soaked.

then i got on corvette central and ordered a few things

2.5 inch magnaflow system, new heater core, new door locks, headlight troubleshooting manual (god this one is a pita)

Congrats! Definitely keep the Corvette parts sites handy in your "favorites".

Uh Oh, you got the bug. I got it two years ago and it has never left. As for the heater core, for now you could bypass it by disconnecting it from the loop. The heater core is a big job.

The heater core is a PITA job but if you are going to undertake it think ahead. You are going to have to take most of the dash apart so think about what you can do while you have it apart. I replaced all the dash bulbs since it was fairly cheap and I didn't know how long the bulbs had been in there. I also replaced the radio with a modern unit(got to have tunes). Also check your guages and make sure they work properly. Now is the time to replace anything that needs it. You don't want to do this again anytime soon.

N.B. be careful with your center guage bezel it is very delicate and they usually break in the edge above the guages because it is very thin there. You don't want to try to muscle it and break it. If needed you should paint it.

Good luck as these cars can be a great deal of fun restoring.

Buy a seal kit for the heater assy from a vender. Also may want to put new seals around the side fresh air vents.
