The convertible production fairy finally built my car! It was built Monday (1/24), dealer got the vin number Tuesday and should have the invoice with ship date today. So, I go on Mapquest and discover that Bowling Green is ONLY 480 miles from Charlotte. Armed with that knowledge, Chevrolet should be able to get it here by this weekend, right? Pics as soon as it arrives. Machine silver, black top, cobalt, 1SB, 6-speed, XM, polished wheels.
This is the longest wait of my life, car was ordered 9/18/04

Feels like the night before you got your very first car don't it?!

Waiting since September sure has been a long wait but I'm sure it will be worth it. How is the weather holding up? Might be a few more weeks before the top can stay down but at least you got it!:D

I got my car on Dec 17th 2004. Before that I ordered the car 1 week earlier from my local Chevy dealership. They said that it would probably be April or May for the delivery. I resigned myself to the wait rationalizing that I wouldn't drive it during the snowy winter anyway. Well that lasted a few days. Thanks to the Chevy website and the locate feature I was able to find a car that had everything that I had ordered on the other car except for the color (orange vs. millenium red metallic). I liked both these colors so luckily, I called the dealership (which was about 50 miles from me) the next day. They said that the car just got there and was being prepped for the showroom. To my surprise it was not sold!!!! I quickly told the salesman that I definitely wanted the car and quickly took the rest of the day off from work and went down there to look at it. I got there around 1 hr before they closed, saw the car all by its lonesome all shiny and clean just waiting for me, and the rest is history. Any luckier and I probably would have won the lottery. Smitty

My coupe was also scheduled to be built on Monday 24 Jan. I got the VIN about week ago and I'm scheduled to take delivery the 14th of Feb. at the museum. Would not be truthful if I did not say that I was excited. First vette after many, no my wife says too too many, other sports cars ( the redundancy of the word "too" was intended). The next two weeks will drag, fortunately I've got lots to keep me very busy. Take care and enjoy. Jack

Congratulations!
Sounds like you'll have your car really soon. Lucky man! :upthumbs
I also have a silver convertible black-top 6-speed polished wheels on order. I placed my order just before Christmas. Here's what I just learned from my dealer today -- apparently all U.S. orders will be filled first and then mine. I may not even see my car till 2006!! Now that's a long time to wait! :cry
Trying to remain cool up here in Canada, :cool

Congrats on your good luck. I asked my dealer for event codes on my vert order and they have not replied, yet. I am begining to wonder if they are waiting for one that is delivered to another dealer that is close to what I ordered and they will get that one and try to sell it to me? That happened to me on another car and it had every dealer option that could be added at inflated prices. After many words they did sell the car to me for the agreed price. I ordered my vert on 09/14/04 .

Carol,I know what you mean.I went to the local dealer and they don't even have pricing, brochure,or any idea as to when a convertible can be delivered :eyerole ....YA .......like I'm gonna fork out 100 grand and just forget about my purchase indefinately. It felt like I was back in '2002 and was wanting to order the 50th Anniversary.....These salespeople make me laugh.I have to explain and re-explain to clients ordering a pizza at 5 bucks at my place of business(how long will it take, what's the final price, what kind of pepperoni,is the mozzarella fresh,do you put sugar in the sauce/dough.....I tell you a billion questions for 5 bucks BUT if you want to inquire about a vette well don't ask too many questions because you will be wasting their precious time. It's soo frustrating that back in 2002 I gave up......Looks like I will be waiting for the dust to settle before buying AGAIN !!!!.....on the other hand there is a cute little 50th Anni that is still up for sale around my neighborhood,nevermind......This is what us folks have to deal with in the winter up here.I'll just go start up my '92,sit behind the wheel and pretend it's a sunny day....where'd I put those shades?:cool

I've got an idea, invinceablevette. :D You've got all of those pizzas. How about we drive a truck load of them down to Bowling Green and arrive near lunch time. Park upwind of the factory. When all of the line workers start getting hungry, we offer them a trade -- free lunch for a vert. No questions asked. By the time lunch is gone, so will the vert. Come to think of it, a refrigerated truck full of good 'ol Canadian beer might hook us more than one. By the time the press gets hold of it, GM will get the kind of advertising that money can't buy.

I like the way you think! Who can resist pizza AND beer? You are one clever gal. ;)

So, do we have confirmation that the employees at the BG factory are NOT on the Atkins diet? Pizza & beer is a pretty carb-loaded repast. :L

Dear invinceablevette:
My schedule says we try our scheme on for size between May '05 (after the garage we are building for my new vette is finished) and mid-July '05 (when my 25th wedding anniversary is). Bill, my husband, has given me this new silver C6 for our 25th (silver) anniversary. It sure would be nice to have it by then but many people wait for years for the vette they have dreamed of. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful husband.
Sometimes the journey is the destination.
Very happy here in Beaverlodge,
Carol :)
