Finding rust

Hi everyone! Just found this forum yesterday. I am new to Corvettes and looking to buy my first. Any tricks to finding rust around the windows and t-tops? I have looked at a couple and did not see anything around the window and those were cars that were not in mint shape and I know there must have been some rust there that I didn't see. Any other buying tips would be greatly appreciated.

Two quick tricks-

Remove the outer kick panels in the footwells. This will allow you to see the bottom of the pillar posts. If you see anything more than surface rust, run away. The rust further up is probably terminal.

Next, take a business card and run it around the edge of the windshield underneath the inside trim. If it comes out rusty, or if it dislodges flakes of rust- guess what!

From there, get the car on a hoist and start going over the frame, paying particular attention to the kickups in front of the rear wheels.

Come to the LEFT coast if you want to find a rust free vette. Then run a carfax on it to make sure it has always been on the West coast.
