It was on my bucket list, what can I say?

Saw the green gremlin on Criagslist, usual story. Ran good when parked, minor problems, yada yada. Went to see it, mostly because I wanted to scavenge the wheels and tires and maybe the seats. Guy sez he put a new battery in, and nothing works.

It really looks good, wheels and tires worth the price, so I pop for $1700 and take it home. Put a battery terminal in place of the loose fitting Home Depot bolt, and it starts up. So, now I'm into it $1702.98.

Dern thing really does run well, shifts solid, and the interior, wheels and tires are indeed very new. Hmmm....keep it or move it?

I dunno. It blows the usual little oil cloud after a warm restart, normal for intake valves. Leaks some from the trans and engine, trans fluid appears new and a little too full. Minor electrical problems, nothing major.

Guess I will drive it for a while and think about the whole thing.

Looking forward to some good advice. My other cars are a 29 Desoto rat rod, Hyundai Santa Fe, S-10 pickup, and 77 MGB. But who knows what I will run into tomorrow?:ugh

Welcome to the forum 29desoto. :w Sounds like a great find.

Welcome aboard....I think you got your monies worth.

Good Beginning!

Well, it sounds like you're off to a good start!! The car sounds like it was a steal at that price and once you drive it some more, you'll probably end up keeping it because it sounds like minor things that need to be done. You certainly won't lose on the deal.

I see you have an MGB. I bought my Corvette because my 76 Midget was still in the shop a year later for a 6 week job! (LOL)

Cheers!

Welcome to CAC!!!!!
enjoy!!!

Thanks for the kind words. I am going to keep the green critter around for at least a while. It still just starts right up and runs like stink.

Probably going to have to build another two car garage, and that will still leave one out in the rain!

Cars are worse than any bad habit I can think of....;)

Congratulations and Welcome. . . . . . . .

Congratulations on your purchase or steel should I say and welcome to Corvette Action Center.

You really should have shopped around a little bit for the bolt, I think Lowe's had it a little cheaper ;LOL
