I just passed the 4 year mark with my car but was looking for over 2 years before I found the right car.
Thats cool - congrats on your anniversary man!
I had been following the Callaway Corvettes since the 80's, lusting after one of my own...
In the late 90's, after one of the Carlisle shows, I got motivated in a BIG WAY to buy one, and started searching the ads again. In 1999, with my wife eight mos. preggers, I found THE car - a bright red / black Aero coupe w/ only 1,800 miles :eek Looking at the ad, I turned to my wife and realized the timing just wasn't right. I didn't give that car much thought after that...
In late 2000, my wife and I went out shopping for a new motorcycle - after going to a handful of dealers, nobody had the 1100xx I was looking for, and I could not see dropping 16 grand on those pretty (two-wheeled) redheads from Italy

On the way home, we passed a house where a bright red / white top Aero Vert was sitting outside,my wife enouraged me to stop and talk to the owner.
Knocking on the door, the fella came out and talked over the car for awhile - it was his 5th Callaway :cool He said I could drive it if I wanted to - politely, I declined. Heading for home, my wife said, "go back and drive it - or you'll never get that car out of your mind" - what a woman! :cool
Returning to the Callaway, I did drive the car - and LOVED IT!

Hooked now, I gave consideration to that car - Called and spoke w/ Reeves about it, but wound up passing on it due to that white top.
As fate would have it, I found an ad online for a red / black Aero coupe - had about 3k mi on it... I sent the fella a message, only to be told he wasn't selling the car anymore, a broker was.
Reluctanly, I contacted the broker about a month or so later - it was only after a really LONG day at work, I decided to do "a little something for myself." The broker was a wheeler - dealer, hoping to extract EVERY penny out of the car - "Bid to buy," he said :eyerole
Finally talking it over w/ the car owner, we agreed to terms and I sent a deposit, picking the car up a few weeks later.
The owner was a widow that said her husband really enjoyed that car - although he only drove it a few times, it was his third Callaway - and he had always wanted an aero car :cool
I am glad that in 1999, I passed on the car when my timing wasn't right, as someone else was able to enjoy the car for some time before passing on - In time, I ended up with the same car - yes, my car is the exact car I had found in 1999 and bought, two years later :cool
So folks, what's your Callaway Story???
