a little while ago i wrote about popping noises coming from under the hood and bad hesitation under acceleration. well i brought it to my corvette guy out here and after 2 days of scanning and diagnostics he found the problem. he said the oil from th kn air filter was getting on the MAF sensor. so in return it was sending the computer faulty readings thus leaning out the fuel mixture. he replaced the filter with the oem unit and guess what? it runs perfect. i thought the maf sensor burns of any dirt or contaminates. the oil on the filter is the same oil it came with from the manufacturer. i did not oil it. people praise these filters. has anyone else had a problem like this with kn filters?

I haven't experienced any problems. I have cleaned and oiled mine with no ill effects. I am interested in others comments.

If you ( or someone else) over oil this filter it will do exactly as you describe. It should be cleaned and lightly oiled with K & N filter oil only. The idea is not to lube it-- just enough oil to trap contaminants. Hope this helps.

I think Ken posted about the over-oiled filter/MAF problem a while back... You aren't the first to have the problem, although I think I remember him saying it doesn't happen too often in corvettes

Ok..just my 5.7 cents worth here...
KN filters....too messy, too expensive.
As you know...Stock filters don't cause the problems you went thru. Stock filters can be bought and replaced cheaper, often, and WHO the heck can actually FEEL the physical difference in a mere (proclaimed) 10 more HP???

Keep it stock, keep it serviced, be good to it, and it will be good to you.
Again....just my 5.7 cents worth.
