- 1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
So I have mentioned it before during the building of my car I had enlisted the help of one of my neighbors Thomas. Thomas is only 6 years and was a great help in holding stuff when I just needed that extra hand. The only down side to Thomas is his world famous quote of "hey lally you know what" whitch is always followed by a long 20 minute story.
Well I finished on a call in my neighbor hood and was home from work earley and Thomas requested a ride in the 62. What else could I say but "jump In" but ask your mom first.
As we were driving Thomas asked why the car sounded quieter. I explained its just as noisey as always and at that point I looked down and the tempiture was climbing fast. NO ELECTRIC FAN running I never noticed but Thomas did.
needless to say we were home in a flash.
so I start trouble shooting. No power at the fan.so go direct to basics and check the auxelery fuse block I had to install for the cooling fan,msd box,and the trans cooler fan.
put the test meeter on the top of the fuse and it has power, bottom of the fuse it also has power and the wire is connected to the terminal nice and tight.
Make a long story short I check every thing short of the fan relay as its in a tough Location to get at. Finally I am positive I have a bad relay and go about sqeezing my fat arm in between the hood and front header panel to unbolt the relay to bench test it and it works. (we are in this thing now 1.5 hours now) Now I go to test the power into the relay (that i already tested at the auxeliry fuse box I installed and it was hot and I know there was no way for this wire to fail as it was installed in a protected area and no spices in it) only to find out it had no power. go back over to my auxelery fuse block and the fuse is still good and installed proper. I then go down to the terminal that the wire is connected to and no power. Some how the terminal block failed behind the scenes. I moved over to the next available terminal installed the fuse connected the wire and I am back in buisness.
the moral of the story had I just checked the terminal instead of the fuse I would have saved alot of time.Who would figure it could have failed this way.I always say start with the basics first, and I did but I just should not of assumed because the fuse had power it meant the wire had power. Some how the buss the out put of the fuse to the wire teminal failed
I paid about 50.00 dollars for this fuse block and had thought it was a high quaility one. I will have to find something better
