Started doing some of the minor fix-up jobs on the car I could manage fairly easy.

First was the headlights. The passenger side had one of the actuator motor bolts sheared off. I tried tapping it out with a bolt extractor. That didn’t work…matter of fact, I was cranking on the extractor to the point that is cracked the lower actuator motor from the bolt hole (or lack of for the moment) to the out corner.:( Once this happened I just drilled out the entire bolt and hole, obviously ruining any threading left. But, that’s ok…I used a larger screw/bolt to hold the 2 actuator halves together. The permanent fix for this will be to weld the bolt hole and crack closed and then re-drill and re-tap the threads for a normal bolt once again. The temporary fix makes the headlight work the way it should for now though.

The driver side headlight would catch every now and then. Seems to have been a slightly bent piece that is very hard to describe. The only way I can describe it a “free floating” piece?

With those fixes in, the headlights work great now. Some of the arm pieces seem loose, so I will be looking to get every piece work over to hopefully near perfection.

Second was the after-market stereo and the power antenna. The 2 problems here were that he stereo would not hold its memory after the car was off (AUX power problem) and the antenna would not come up. Let’s start off by saying I want to punish the moron that put in this after-market piece of crap in!! The dumb @$$ made all the wiring in the dash look like someone dropped a mini bomb in there. A wiring spagetti cluster-f***! :mad :hb GRRRRR!!! Whoever did all of this gets a big fat F from me!:bash They cross connected the AUX power and MAIN power line from the radio to the ignition power line from the car!! Hmmmm….Duh! Fixed that. As for the power antenna, the line coming off of the radio to control the antenna (I think) was not pushing enough voltage to make the antenna go up, SO for the short-term fix (until I get a better stereo system installed) I have the power antenna control line connected to the ignition switch line of the car. The bad thing on this is even if you turn off the radio, the antenna will stay up.

Bottom line, with the impending electrically disaster in my dash taken care of, I now have a few of the “things to fix” on my car at least in a temporary fixed state!
