1996 LT1 - after the battery went dead and replaced it now the SYS light is flashing on my display, can't find it in the FSM any ideas on how to fix, scanner shows nothing also

Thanx

The "SYS" you see flashing is an indication of a fault that the CCM has detected. Look under CCM in your FSM, in particular "diagnosis, for my 95 it is Book 1, 8D-4.

You may find instructions to manually interrogate the CCM.

If this info does not help you can e-mail me at lsylvestri@sbcglobal.net & I can forward additional info.

Reason battery went dead was my grandson didn't close the passenger door all way and I was driving my 85 vette for about a week.

The OP did not say how long the car's batter has been in service but, if it's more than five years, keep in mind that, even if you charge the battery, it may still be weak. Generally, car batteries have a limited tolerance for deep cycles (ie: run down dead then recharged). An old battery might be "killed" by a deep cycle.

Best would be to recharge the battery either with a 10 or 20 amp charger for several hours or jump start followed by an hour or so of driving. Then have the battery tested. If it passes a test, you dodged a bullet. If it fails, I'd replace the battery.

Sorry Hib for not putting it in the previous post, but I did replace the battery.
