Does anyone know the exact size of the flex plate on an 85? the choice is 153 or 168 teeth, 12 3/4 or 14".....I am replacing the flex plate and converter this weekend to get rid of a vibration.

OK ... I give up ... what's a flex plate? Sounds like something I'd want
to know about. Does it have another name ?

On a car with an automatic, instead of a flywheel you have a flex plate that the torque converter bolts to. The flex plate is attached to the crankshaft.

Thanks for the info.
I always learn something interesting at this BB.

It's the smaller of the two available. The old one off my 84 measures 12 7/8. I'm now using a '91 1-pc rear main block, which takes a different flexplate, so I still have the old one if you need one.
