Floor Pan Paint

Hello I have a two -tone silver ann vette 1978 I have minor surface rust on floor under carpet. Should I sand and repaint or sand and spray light coat of oil spray without paint. What type of paint is it on floor , just normal silver paint. ALSO when I changed carpet I didnt replace heat insulation mats is this okay. thanks in advance Dave

there are several posts about changing carpet and using reflectix as an insulator/sound deadner . . . in addition, several here seem to like a product called POR 15 - -it reportedly stops rust, seals and coats like a thick black paint.

For the floor I would use Rust Bullet http://www.rustbullet.com It goes on faster and easier then POR15. I use POR15 for other stuff that can be seen.
