Help! floppy side view mirror

I have 1973 roadster that I bought new, ordered, and I want to know if there is any way to tighten the face of the mirror. It is the original mirror.

A semi permanent fix would be to apply some loctite 243 at the ball and stud. Make sure the mirror is positioned correctly first.
