Flowmaster or Dynomax mufflers?

i put 2 flowmasters on mine and couldnt be happier......i had a timing problem , that made it backfire hard enough to blow the entire side of one of the stainless mufflers the previous owner installed....when i picked up the flow master , it was clear that i could never blow the side out on one of these cans....very thick steel construction...the sound is just right.....it is heavy though , so give that some thought.hope it helps

Flowmaster all the way!!!

I have the Flowmasters on my car too. I get the impression also, that these things are indestructible and will never 'wear' out! I am extremely pleased with sound and performance.

Sweet, you will love the sound!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm still waiting... the exhaust on the car was replaced at some point, but the shop that did it did not make it to spec, so it won't line up with the new mufflers. So, I will be having a local shop craft me a new exhaust. While I am at it, I'm going to have them include a crossover pipe just aft of the transmission crossmember. I'm debating whether I should put in dual cats, to appease the inspection station (although I highly doubt any of them would know a '79 is supposed to have a cat, and the dual system would not technically be any more legal than no cats). Still, I figure if I use two cats of the normal size, I have double the flow of the single-cat system, and if I use high-flow cats, I have even more. Might be worth it, while I am putting new pipes on the car.

2-1/4" pipes with a 1-3/4" crossover seem like a good system? Should keep my low-end nice, which fits with my driving style.

Joe,
if you are considdering running dual cats, you may want to look at a dual in / dual out cat for a cost and weight savings. and a cross over pipe will be shorter and more effective if you decide to go that route. if not, make sure that you remove the catalist sticker from the engine bay, usually found near the vaccum booster. smog guys see those and know to look for cats. keep us posted, Brian
