I get the honor (I really like working on my vette) to change the fog lamp lens on my 91 coupe. I’ve given the job a cursory look but haven’t dove into it yet. Is there a trick to getting the light fixture out to get to the lens? Or must I start taking parts of at the rear end and work forward? I hope that was a joke. Thanks in advance. BamaJohn

Just for curiocity, why are you replacing the lens? If you found a better one i.e. one that dosen't defuse the light so much that it is about useless, please let me know where you got them. I've been looking but haven't had any luck. Sorry I don't know how to remove them, I'm new to vette ownership and haven't done to much yet.

Finz up :pat

I've heard you take off the front bumper skin.

Parrothead. I got a clear lens replacement from ZIP’s wasn’t cheap but clear as a bell. Old ones were scratched and blasted to a milky white. I tried polishing them with plastic polishing compound but didn’t like the results.

Froggy47 I was afraid of that, I’ll dive into it this weekend.

BAMA, sorry for my ignorance, I just bought my first 'vette last night, but what is ZIP's and do they have a web site that I could order from?

Please let us know how to change the lenses once you figure it out, I would like to change the lenses on my wifes 94.

C-5 Fog Light Replacement

:_rock I checked on Ecklers web site for fog light lenses or lights complete for a 2000 C-5 and found nothing for C-5 other than parking lights and bulbs. Got any idea where I can find lenses or lights complete for a C-5 other that a dealer? I have search all that I know to and would appreciate some souces if you have any. Also how do I remove the fog lights completely to clean and inspect them?

Thank You Very Much

Well BamaJohn, good luck. From what I understand, that entire part is one unit--and its factory fused together, as in lens to housing. You can go in from the bottom with the Vette on a lift. Remove the front spoiler, rent a trained Capuchin monkey (for the long skinny arms and tiny hands), have the proper torx available preferably one that's 'L' shaped and go to it. Again, good luck. :Steer

2000 C-5 Fog Lights

:w Bama John,

I got a friend that lives in Ozark, Ala. Hope you faired this last huricane well and unscathed. Just wanted to say hey! I wanted some information on removing the fog lights on a 2000 C-5, don't really know how I ended up here.

Later,

Unfortunately, the entire front bumper cover must be removed to access the lamp housing. It's a tedious job with lots of little screws. Once you have that off, the housing is on the back side of the cover.

The housing which includes the fog lamp and turn signal is a one-piece sealed unit from the factory so it's simply replacing the old unit with the new one.

C-5 Fog Lamp Removal/Replacement

Is this the procedure for removing the fog lights on a C-5 or an older Corvette? I am somewhat confused, because on my C-5 the trun signal unit and the fog lights do not appear to be one piece at all. The only thing that makes sense here is that C4 cruiser may be talking about procedures for a C-4 fog light removal. Is this in fact the case?

Thanks,
Bill:confused

It's for a C4.

:v Thank you very much; I thought maybe that was the case. Any idea on how the C-5 fog lights are removed? I have a service manual ordered but it hasn't come in yet.
