Fog Lamp Replacement

The driver's side clear fog lamp is out in my 1988 coupe. I can clearly see the lamp holder for the yellow signal but I cannot see anyway to get to the fog lamp.

Can anyone tell me how to get to that lamp?

You should see a wire connected to a tube type bulb holder about 8 inches from the turn signal lamp. It helps to have small hands. Twist that tube about a quarter of a turn (counter clockwise T think) pull it out and the bulb will be on the other end of it. Be careful when you are putting it back in or you will break the bulb off the socket and you can't get it out without removing the entire front bumper. If you do break one off, just leave it there and reload. LOL

While you're replacing the lamps, you might want to upgrade to a better bulb. I've been using the Sylvania Silverstar fog lamps and they are much better than the OEM bulbs but are about the same wattage. You can also increase the wattage to about 50W without too much of a hastle.

If the bulbs are the same as a 90 the OEM bulbs are 880 for the 25 watt. I think the 50 watt number is 885. I will look in the morning to make sure , if that is not correct I will change the post.

The bulb for an 87 is the 880. The Silverstar bulb is the 880ST. Either the ST or the 885 will work fine.

Ok, thanks. I attempted to get the bulb out yesterday and accomplished nothing but skin removal (is this what the massage therapy places call exfoliation?). :eyerole I put my car in for service today and told them if they can get them out in one shop-hour to replace both and be done with it.

Why is the 'simple' stuff so complicated???
