What to do...cut them out to open up some more air flow and put Z06 screens in front or not?...The Z06 doesn't even have the shrouds or the fog lights...Anyone done it and did you drill holes or just cut a rectangular shape out of the back of the shrouds? Thanks.:)

Does your car currently have fog lights? If yes - why would you take them out? If no - why do want to cut up the shrouds? Are you having some sort of cooling problem? Are you planning to drive the car competively?

Well lets see.
1. First of all my C5 has fog lights like the rest of the C5's except the C5 Z06.
2. Next...I do not want to take my fog lights out...I never said I did. I was just stating that the C5 Z06 doesn't even have fog lights in addition to not even having shrouds.
3.Next...I am not having any kind of problem with cooling more than the normal (average) C5...all of them get a bit warm and they say thats normal.
4. Next...I was just asking if it would help cool the engine compartment a bit more as in the Z06 without shrouds and the answer from most gurus is that it does give better air flow to the engine compartment and if you have a Blackwing it gives a bit more cooler ambient air (without cutting the radiator shroud under the blackwing and adding a box over the Blackwing to seal out engine compartment heat)as opposed to the hot air sucked in mostly from the engine compartment...so thats why I asked about cutting the shrouds for better air flow and to cool the engine compartment a bit more...any little bit helps since Vettes are bottom breathers and they welcome any sort of cooling help...
5. And lastly...no I don't race my vette or run it in competition with anyone...but I still want to help cool the engine and high temps down a bit since GM engineers want it to run so hot just for the environment...if you understand what I mean:upthumbs

I modified the fog light shroud but I did it to install a vararam intake which has made a huge difference.

I took the shroud out completely and installed the z06 grilles just like the factory does.

The air intake temperatures are reduced now.

Thanks...anyone else?:)

I made a cardboard template and drilled holes using a 3/4" bit in my stock inlet blanks (I also have foglights). I then purchased GM Z06 grills and installed them using Velcro tape. They came out great! The fog lights shine right through them and at night, you can't see the grills. The light washes them out....very easy mod!

I cut a nice neat rectangle in the shrouds. Lets in more air than just the holes and there is still plenty support left in the shrouds...(doesn't really matter though because the shrouds don't seem to support anything anyway) and used Velcro to hold the Z06 screens in. Works for me.:upthumbs

I drilled 1/2 inch holes and installed Z06 screens

A hole saw works cleaner...........
I used a blade/knife and cut a rectangle...very clean cut and twice as much area than holes and twice as much air flow:beer
