Is there any way of operating the fog lights, without turning on the headlights on a 84 corvette?

Yep...you have to cut the yellow wire (marked .8 yel) going to the fog switch and find another source...preferably one that give you 12 volts only when you turn the switch on...that way you won't accidental leave the lights on.

My fogs will go on with just the parking lights on. Main lights are still "doors closed", and the warning gong will sound if I turn the Ignition off and forget to turn off the lignts.

I didn't even know I had foggers on the 87 until this weekend...lol.

The stock lamps in them do not really do much so they are almost worthless if you ask me.
I replaced mine with 55 watt halogen bulbs. Made a big difference.

I did the same thing but I am a little worried about the heat on the lenses.

I have been driving mine with the 55 watt bulbs for 6 years with no problems but I only use them while driving not while parked. As long as you are driving the air flow will keep them from overheating.

That's good to know, I like to use mine just before dark instead of always having the headlights up.

I put some Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in my foglights and it made a world of difference.

Silverstar headlights are great also!

Just about any decent parts store like Autozone or Advance should have them. They are a direct swapout for the original bulbs. Item Nr. 880ST works.

They run about $20/each.

Not cheap but, IMO, well worth it.

are the lamps 4 a 87 the same as a 94?

Was thinking of the up grade. Is the lamps for the 87 the same as the 94?

I don't know what fog light bulb the '94 uses but you can Google Sylvania Auto Lamps and probably come up with the answer.

I have an '85, I just turn on the parking lights, and the fog light switch will activate the fog lights without the headlights turning on.

On the 84's you have to have the headlights on to use the fog lights hence the mod suggested above.
