has anybody ever thought of the possibly of getting the L-81 members all together for a week-end meet at some nice location . I do understand we are all over the map....but....well....who knows , might become a big thing ? . In southern ontario , canada , at a little lake side town named PORT DOVER..a week-end meet years ago with maybe 20 vettes has turned into a annual event every summer . Thousands show up from locals to long distance vette owners from as far away as florida . They have a motorcycle week-end that started the same way also . The town loves it !!...
cheers eh ?...........redneck

In 2001 the L81VetteRegistry got together at Bowling Green. There were 27 1981 Corvettes show up.

Not all 27 stayed around for the entire weekend, but they came from all over the US, from Florida ~ Maine ~ California ~ Michigan and a lot of states inbetween.

We gathered in front of the Museum for this group photo..

Just a note FYI. Mine has 34K and completely original to the tires.
Hi Richard......yes....your car looks very nice !! . I am here in southern Ontario Canada and have been going to as many car shows / cruises as possible . When i park the car , out comes my little sign that has a picture of the car on it along with this caption***HAS ANYONE SEEN MY TWIN ??*** . So far , in Ontario anyway , only one guy has come up to me and said he has actually seen one other up close and personal........in south Carolina !!....years ago !! . My appraiser who did the appraisal of mine told me that in his 22 years of appraising all types of cars , other then my beige/bronze vette....he has only seen one in pictures . He was impressed and stressed this point on the appraisal , bringing the value of the car up quite a bit more then the average '81 would be . Just recently, i did a google search (1981 beige/bronze corvette) and several popped up . The vettes were all sweet and prices ranged from 15,000 usd to 25,000 usd ( this one had 25,000 miles i think ) . So far , not one other
Canadian has contacted me , like , am i the only one ??? . I would love to get together with ALL the other beige/bronze corvette owners maybe next summer in some nice place just to see how many we can attract . It would be a really neat *group picture* to say the least eh ?? . Take care Richard...and all you vette lovers out there . Cheers...............redneck in Ontario.............

Hey redneck in Canada. That is a great story about your vette. You know I did see a beige/bronze in my home town in Mass. several years ago, but it was a beater. I hear the kid totalled it. Real shame. No appreciation. What amazes me is when I bring mine to cruise nights, I get asked alot who did the paint. When I tell them GM and it's original they looked surprised. I think that is a good thing.
Have a great day.

Once again Richard...hey.......yes !!.....i have been asked that EVERY time i get talking to people . They too are really surprised to find out it is not a custom paint job but just a GM one . Mine too ( other then a scratch here and there ) is original....they can't believe how nice the paint is ( clear coat works eh ? )........one other thing i have found......it's a *chic magnate*....ALL women seem to gravitate towards it...they all seem to like the colors ...guy's are so-so untill your around them awhile . Maybe it should have told me something when the original owner of my car was a 19 year old named Wanita eh ?? . Anyways.....other then a 78 pace car ( which i was originaly shopping for ) you couldn't pry this beige beauty from my grasp !! . I think we all have true collector cars here Richard . Now....gotta go polish her ...just saw a fly leave some footprints !!!! .
later my man........cheers........redneck again.......

I get that a lot at the car shows.

A lot of people cannot believe that the paint is original, but it is.

Ken

Hey redneck,

I would say that it is some kind of chic magnet,as I always get a lot of the ladies at the shows, commenting on the color, interior, etc, etc.
