Now add a Quality air filter and modify the filter lid and for 50 bucks your GOLDEN!!!!! Same temp air as the ram air system and same Volume of air. I still dont think ANYONE can show a positive pressure inside the intake manifold, and without PRESSURE, NO H.P. GAIN. Sorry but thats my story and im sticking to it.:D :w
Sorry to chim in a little late here. I agree put a good K&N filter on, but if the original system is so good why modify it? I dont want to pick a fight, but i put ram air on my 87 for a couple of reasons 1. One of the pins on the original air cleaner lid was broke. 2 the air lid has three fins on the top that it recieves its main source of air. 3 it gets all its air from the engine compartment which is always warm to hot depending on season. My Ram air system might be pricey at 299 but from 45 on up it is definetly faster, and it looks a whole lot better and it sounds better at idle standing in front.:D

If you have an A/O where did you get it for $299? I'm still lookng for the right deal on an early C4 one if anyone has one or knows of one please let me know.

I just ordered the vortex Breathless Ram Air system out of Mid America for $299

Ill open myself up for a bunch of crap here BUT,Has anyone (other than the manafacturer) ever done a REAL test of some of this JUNK!!! Now,IMHO if you were going out on the salt flats, and were going 100mph or faster at WIDE OPEN THROTTLE you MIGHT be able to record a difference. Any airflow getting into the engine still has to go through the throttle body, and as small as the T.B. openings are, the ONLY way to force feed it air is with a BLOWER or TURBO!!!!! Dont believe me? Put a pressure guage into the intake manifold,Ill bet my last buck it will show 0 psi. and 0 psi is 0 added power DUE TO FORCED INDUCTION, And thats ONLY at WIDE OPEN THROTTLE!!!!!! IMHO not a good investment for a street driven Vette!! Save another $3000. and put a blower on it, THATS BANG FOR THE BUCK!!!!!!:D
Yes, I have read of guys increasing a couple of mph at the track with the A/O Engineering Forced Air system. It is not about pressurizing the system. It is about getting COLD air in.

One of the guys racing above 100 mph with this system was having his K&N filter gaskets blown out.

Just to make sure where on the same page here(so to speak).I was-am talking about a C-4, Which has a fairly good (but somewhat restrictive) Cold air intake system rite from the general. The air filter housing mounted in front of the radiator and just above the airdam is near perfect!!!!! Nice cool air (not under hood temp) And fed from the airdam.
Cutting the air lid does practically nothing. This has been shown on the track and dyno. You are still getting hot air from the engine compartment.

I hope I dont step on anyones toes but....Do some research on turbine engines, they are basically a big venturi(with a lot of help, but anyway)using a large inlet for air, then reducing it to a smaller opening, increases air velocity.Opening the area back up(like a cone)increases pressure.Pressure and heat are proportionate.(an increase in either affects the other.)By using(in affect)a series of "venturies" all the way to the throttle body opening is only going to help matters when it opens up for a big gulp of air, which is pressurized(slightly)then funneled into the cylinders.Keeping the "venturi" effect going is where people/engineers run into problems. One guy can build something and it works, another may botch it.But the theory is sound. Please dont crucify me.

FX, I have to agree, I bought the BPP one, then sold it and bought the TPiS bottom feeder filter set-up. it is 110% better quality
