Ford injectors

Okay, I read a lot about some guys using Ford injectors on our TPI cars. How are they?

I'm going to do something with my injectors but I don't know if I should buy new injectors or go with Cruzin Performance and have them cleaned. I think it was about $12 an injector or so.

I'm just going to run the stock sized injectors, which I believe are 24 lbs/hour, right?

I have heard many things about those injectors. Who knows, about the stock injector rating. I have heard everything under the sun. However I think they are 22, could be wrong though.

I'm not sure what the draw is to the SVO injectors over other brands, but I think most people that run them in 350's are using 30#. you wont need that until you get into some heavy mods.

at $12 an injector for cleaning, it seems that just spending the extra $$ on new ones is better... after they are cleaned they could still break. and $12 an injector isn't cheap IMO

I've been running the Ford 24# injectors for almost 3 years now with no problems.

I was thinking the same thing about spending $12 on an injector, which would be more than $100 with shipping both ways. That's not that bad of a deal but I could get new ones for about $300 that are totally brand new.

30# would be too much for me. I'm going to stay relatively stock because our emissions people here are Nazi's. I won't be modding that heavy.

I didn't notice any seat-of-the-pants difference in performance, but it sure does start better with injectors that don't leak.

The computer compensates for the extra flow by shortening the pulse duration to the injectors, so the engine is still getting the same amount of fuel.

I'm in the 22# camp. My understanding of why people use the Ford injectors is less expensive, just as good.

Edmond: Your 88 is 22lb just like my 89. I have at least 6 good stock injectors you can have if you need them - they just need O rings which I used on the FORD 24s I put in mine over the winter. The 24lb Fords I have do flow more than a standard 24lb rate at 43 psi. Last week I installed my new chip with the injector constant changed to 24 or 24.5 lbs at a fuel pressure of 43 psi and they were extremely rich and the I240 emissions test showed unburned HC at ten times the allowable limit and CO at three times the allowable limit. I have adjusted the fuel pressure to about 37/38 lbs which is as low as I can get it and have adjusted the TPS to .50 volts and it's running OK but still pig rich by looking at the plugs and the fact it's still surging some. I should get my EASE interface tool back by tomorrow or Monday so I can figure out whats really going on and in the meatime Jeff is burning me another chip with the injector constant going to 26lb.

I went with the FORD injector like everyone else because of 1) price and 2) they are better than the stock design. At fiveOmotorsport you can get 22lb Bosch injectors for less than $300 which would be the way to go depending upon on how modified you are going to go.

I use the Ford #22 injectors on my LT1 engine and they are so close to the stock injectors, the computer (ECM) will compensate for any discrepency between stock and the Ford units. The best part they are better than stock injectors and more robust.

I looked at the site and they're selling Bosch injectors for $267 a set, which still isn't too bad. I may go that route.

My main concern is passing emissions. 89ZZ4 knows the troubles I've seen with emissions. As for mods, I'm staying TPI and I'll go with 1.6 roller rockers, ported everything, headers, the basics. Since all I want is a street machine, I'm most likely not going to mess with the cam.

The stock ones in my 90 Vert were 22 lbs. I installed a set of Accel 24 lb ones last year from Sumitt Racing for $ 236.00. Have driven it 15,000 miles since then and still runs perfect!

Thanks, Doug. I looked and they have 22# sets for $199 plus $11 for Priority Shipping. I'm going to order them next week.

Im using ford motorsports 24 # in mine for 2 years now ,got them on ebay new for $150.
