One of my friends has an 85 vette, he swears that 85's have forged pistons. I told him that GM had no reason to put forged anything in a TPI car b/c it is just plain overkill. Not needed. An engine that does not make power over 4,800 rpms would be a waste. Anyway he still disagrees. Does anyone here have an 85 vette that has "stocK" forged pistons in it??:argue ;stupid ;help

The 85 DOES have forged pistons.

85-86 share the cam cam, EGR is different, i think theres a difference in cold start injectors, and the rear main seal is 1-piece in 86.

But he does have forged pistons, they were leftovers from the GM parts bin as i can tell.

The 1982 and 1984 Cross-Fire Corvettes also have the same TRW 464664 forged pistons as the 1985.

The same pistons were also used in the some high hp stingrays.

does anyone know of any documentation on this, would stock replacements still be a forged piston?
