Found hesitation problem-I think!

I was just about to take the car to get it diagnosed when
I thought I would check some of the vacuum line connections
that I could without removing the plenum.I discovered that
the vacuum line connection on the very rear of the plenum,
the one with the metal plate over the connector, was not
making a tightly sealed connection. It seems the rubber seal
on the bigger vacuum line has come off and the smaller vacuum
line is loose inside the bigger line.Could that be the problem?
I tried to seal the connection with some electrical tape for
the time being and it did not hesitate like it has before or
idle badly.I had 1 or 2 moments where I got a almost un-noticeable hesitation or lag,but certainly not as bad as was
the case.My question is this-what could I use to seal this
vacumm connection or do I need to just go buy another
big rubber boot that the small line connects to.And can you
buy just that 1 piece of hose? I hope I have found the problem.
Thank's

That would be your MAP sensor and yes, a leak there would cause a problem. All sorts of problems actually.

When I pulled the intake plenum last year, I found similar condition at a lot of two piece connections. This particular vacuum lines were only 18 months old. So rather than buying a new piece which I figured would degenerate, I mixed a batch of 2 part epoxy and applied a small amount on the hard plastic tube and worked it into the soft rubber part. then, where possible, tied the soft rubber portion with a miniture plastic tie. To be on the safe side, I applied more epoxy around the joint between soft and hard plastic tube. So far its holding good.
Even if you install a new vacuum line, I would sugget going over these joints with epoxy. Seems heat separates these joints rather quickly even with new lines.
