I have looked at these in the store. They look similar to K&N.

They are just about the same dimension as a "normal" filter and appear to be cleanable (for re-use). Here is the thing, I don't understand the $45 price tag! Unless I am mistaken, the same volume of air comes through this filter as it uses the stock air box. The way to get improved performance is to increase the air volume into the motor. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but same air flow means NO improvement. The only reason you might want a "cleanable" filter is to same on the constant replacement of disposable filters. Needless to say I didn't buy the Airhog. If you want to improve performance by "modding" the air filter, you need to install one of the many after-market air intake systems that actually INCREASES air flow.

An easy to increase airflow into an LS1 engine is to replace the airbox cover with the Z06 airbox cover. Or, if you don't mind the look, cut holes in the standard LS1 cover. It is cheaper than any other option and maintains the use of stock parts.

I have the Z06 cover with a K&N.

K&N/Accel Kool Blue/Fram Air Hog are all manufactured the same, that is oiled cotton gauze.
However there IS a difference in the MSR Price.

Shop around. I found the best price at www.summitracing.com
