As many have read, I have been having one heck of month with my vette, first the power steering pump and now my A/C compressor.

Welllll, today I went to pick up the car and the mechanic said the car was stalling. I got in it to drive it away and found out the car would stall when you would start accelerating.

I found out that somehow the mechanic tripped some anti-theft gimmick on, and now if the car goes more than 1.5 mph, the fuel pump is shut off. Wonderful.:(

Message on the DIC shows "Service Column Lock"

I tried everything. Pulling this fuse and that fuse. I even ran the codes. It is not showing any codes at all.

So now, the car has to be towed to a dealer so the BCM can be reflashed. The mechanic tried to tell me that I would be held responsible for the charges. I told him "The car ran fine when I brought it in." He reluctantly changed his mind and said he would take care of it in the morning. (as he should).

It keeps getting better and better.

Oh man. I've read your threads detailing the woes with the dealer. And now this... At least he's doing the right thing and fixing this one, at least, on his dime. Maybe after this you should look for a different mechanic.

That's a shame you're having all these troubles during the bloom of what should be the honeymoon period. Hang in there, get them worked out, and hopefully it will be fairly smooth sailing after that.

Once burned, twice shy. I think JRose is correct- it's time to go shopping for another dealership with mechanics more experienced with Corvettes.

that reflash isnt gonna do ****. I had to have my whole column lock motor replaced. your lucky it happened at the dealer because now he gets to pay for it. It was bound to happen to you sooner or later. God was with you on that one.

Congrats you just saved 500 bucks!!

I appreciate all the feedback and advice. It is going on seven days without the vette. Not much else to do except wait and call them everyday. Thanks

Call Gregory Peck...:W

Seriously, if your mechanic would even THINK of charging you when he goofed and then changed his mind... I'd find a BETTER mechanic.

I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about this guy.

This just keeps getting better and better. The car sat at the dealership since last thursday. They said the bcm is not communicating with the pcm. They believe I need to get a new bcm "for starters".

I went down there with my trailer and when I started it up, The exhaust was louder then H***. When I looked underneath, I found the passenger side muffler pipe had been separated from the connection at the H pipe. Guess the towing company screwed that up because the dealer never had it on a lift.

So, after $2000.00 since 8-4-05, I am left with a car that still cannot be driven and now needs exhaust work.

This sucks.

Anybody know any good mechanics in the Tampa Bay area? Preferrably the northern counties.

I think atmmac is correct. I had the same exact thing happen to me on my 2000 coupe this last June. It just came on out of the blue. I had the car at a show and shine in the morning and I went to visit a friend in the afternoon and it just wouldn't unlock and the engine would stall. My bill was $550 though. I thought it was going to be covered by the recall, but my m6 recall didn't affect the lock motor apparently. Good luck - R

Update...$350 more and another dealer..they found several broken wires in the harness that contributed to the electrical problem..All is well now. I have take it this morning to have the muffler fixed and a few other things I found out the first mechanice screwed up. Never going back to this mechanic. Thanks for all the replies and input.
