Like the title says, the drivers front caliper jumps over the retaining pin. The pads are installed correctly, and the spring clips are installed on the bottom of the pad. I've replaced pads and pins (multiple times). I can see no physical damage to the caliper mount and the rotor runout is minimal. Any help as to why this is happening is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I hope you have this resolved by now, but this may have been the problem. I had my brakes apart last year for some detailing, and I swapped the front caliper brackets when I was putting things back together. I don't recall exactly what the problem was when I was installing the caliper, but I knew something was not correct, and found my error.

Update. I think I discovered the problem.
After much deliberation I decided the two half moon
shapes, on the caliper mounting bracket,
and on the pads that form the hole that the pin goes thru
leave a large gap at the top. I used my mapp torch to heat up the
end of the pad and took the bfh to it and made it fit better and capturing the pin more completely. It's been three weeks and all is good so far.
We will see.
