I've been doing a suspension rebuild on my 75 for the last 6 months. the front rotors are toast. my question is: Are the hubs reuseable? can I remove the rivets and just purchase new rotors. and does anyone know the procedure to install the old hubs to the new rotors? do I need to rivet the new ones on to the hubs? and where do I get the rivets? Thanks in advance. there is light at the end of the tunnel it just seems to be 1000 miles away.

The rivets suck. You can get them out but check to see if the hub is bent. You dont need to re-rivet them the pressure from the wheel lugs is sufficient.

I did mine last year and I bolted them together but i dont think you even have to do that. One of mine was already separated from the rotor ,so I bought one without the hub and one with.I can tell just by looking at it that its going to be better to buy a rotor with a hub already on it.:upthumbs

Jim,

Everyone is right, you don't "need" to have the rotors rerivetted back to the bearing assembly hub. The pressure of the wheel properly bolted and torqued down "should" hold everything in place. However..... having new rotors not trued to the hub has been a PITA on my '81 for years. The only time I haven't had rotor run-out is when I have them rerivetted and then have the rotor turned on the hub. But lots of folks will also tell you this is not necessary. This should give you a couple options.

Good luck.............. Nut
