87 topless

Guest
I'm in the process of painting my 87 convertible and have removed all the body moldings(a pain in the d---) however, I would like to paint the car first and then install new moldings but how do you reinstall the front bumper molding without messing up the new paint on the hood? The bumper is off, do I paint it with flex paint and then install the molding before I put it back on the car? Any help would be appreciated. Also anyone know where to get moldings chesp, either oem or after market?

Oh man, I never saw this or I would have bumped it back to the top long ago. :o

Nobody out there is able to help this gentleman? Surely someone here has performed bodywork of a C4 before. :CAC

For what its worth, I ponddered this same question. My decision was to put the moulding on and then put the bumper on the car and tape it off. I believe the two side mouldings can be attached after the bumper is attached. According to the PPG guy, the flexative needs to be added if you paint the bumper off of the car but if you paint it on the car it is not 'necessary'. (I am planning on using it anyhow). Another member, paintdaddy has answers to a lot of these questions and he is very helpful. As far as mouldings 'cheap' I was unsuccessful and paid through the nose at Ecklers.
