Mt '69 has a, period correct!, custom front end that was done in '75 or so. It has 2(total) fixed position headlights - it looks like the Italia for those that know of that model. I've been tossing the idea around for the past couple of yrs of putting the stock type front end back. I see I can get a 1 piece for a grand or the correct type with bonded prices for 3 grand (ouch). I know the bonded piece type with add to the value of the car which I don't care about since I'm not thinking of resale. I'm interested in the best quality, straightness and one that will look the best after final paint and finishing. Anyone ever put one of these clips on? How much fitting is involved?

My '68 needs the entire front clip redone. I decided to solicit someone who has been working on corvettes their whole life. I've been told this is very delicate to do it "right", ensuring that the seems are properly done and the actual glassing back into the main body is correct. Its no easy task. Having said that, he quoted me a price (including purchase of the front clip) of only $2200 - I thought that was a bargain and a half!

Anyway, unless you are experienced with fiberglass I wouldn't suggest doing this yourself!
Cheers

Leave well-enough alone...

:nono -That C3-"Italia" if by Intermeccanica-Co. was one sweet period-styling iteration, if you personally don't like it, -then rather than destroy it, why not simply sell/trade it for one you do like, as one would expect that it has significant collector-value if in decent condition (some had stock interiors, others had Ferrarri-like interiors; -and C.Shelby was involved in building three aluminum-bodied coupes under the name Italia also). There are probably guys/gals right here that would make you a happy deal (i will try and post a picture of the C3-Italia now) [nope, won't take as am using Mozilla apparently, --so anyone E-mail me for a picture of the C3-Italia]... ~Bob vH

Sell it - not after owning it since '73! Front end is the same as this '69 Phase 3 Baldwin Motion Corvette - same color also
