I was wondering whats the easiest way to remove the front speakers from an 84 vette. I've tried to pry the grills off with a screwdriver but I'm afraid of damaging the dash. Is there a secret to doing this. I've already changed the back speakers but now I want to update the front ones. Any input would be much appreciated.
THANKS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL

If you had the Bose system in your car their are no speakers in the dash they are in the doors. You can add speakers under the dash...Its really not that difficult to remove it...Give me a few moments to locate the instructions.

My vette was equipped with a bose system but there were no speakers on the doors. Everyone I know with the Bose system says that it was suppose to have some on the doors, but there are no cut-outs at all. Oh well, I gotta take that dash off to replace the two that are up front. Sounds like its gonna be a *****, but It'll sound sweet with four working speakers versus just the two I have now. Thanks for all the input. Happy Holidays.

The original Bose system did indeed have door speaker/amp combos and nothing in the dash.

I ripped all the Bose crap out of mine, put 6" speakers in the doors, a mid/tweeter combo from an old pair of 6x9s in the dash, 6x9s in the rear, and a pair of 8" subs in an enclosure I built. One amp for the subs, everything else is driven from the deck. It really does sound quite nice for not a horribly large amount of money.
