ALL SOLD......................................................................................................................................................................................................I have 3 78-early79 power antennas and 1 late79-82.
From left to right....

Number 1. $250. This is flat out NOS. Never used in the box. I did replace the nylon leader that raises it up and down as a precaution(see number 2!)

Number 2. $210. This WAS NOS a few years ago. Was in use for a while until the nylon leader broke. I replaced the leader and it's pretty much like new. (NOS, being about 25 years old means the nylon leader is tightly coiled inside for all those years. They break both from a lot of use and also from no use as they get brittle)
This antenna doesn't have a connector on the wires and will need to be spliced in. Normally not a problem as many old ones are removed by cutting the wires.

Number 3. $170. This is a very nice used unit originally out of a 78 Cadillac. Trunk mounted so it stayed nice. Nylon leader has been replaced and both antenna mast sections were replaced with NOS sections due to slight wear in the chrome.
For NCRS judging this would probably be the best one as it has the beige cover and original equipment style mast tube.

I also have 2 upper mount brackets and 1 lower mount bracket. $10 each with an antenna.
And, 1 fender bezel. $30 with an antenna.

This one is for late79-82
Number 4. $90. This one is out of a 51K mile 81. Nylon leader broke and owner had one of those $89 Haradas

installed. Replaced the nylon leader and also had to repair the wire harness as it had been cut.

In the pics at the top you can see the tightly coiled nylon lead that always breaks in these. Circling it is a new leader for comparison.

Prices include shipping @ about $10. Much higher and you pay the diff.

If interested please post here AND PM me. Thanks.

Mike, the pink plastic nub that sticks out past the base of the antenna needs to be ground down because the rubber "nub" on the end of the nylon mast is too long......The original nylon mast had a shorter "nub" and the other side of it slid over the pink plastic nylon "string " guide at the base......Whats your suggestion as to how to make this work most efficiently ?BTW...#4 looks like the closest to mine....May 79' birthday....Oh ya, the test wiring info would be helpful......Thanks!

Jeff, I always throw away the new seal (nub?) and reuse the original. Then again, is there even a seal originally? I've gotten to where I don't pay attention when I got em apart. I know there's a drain so why need the seal?
To go up...Grey -, Green+
Down........White +, Green-

Looking at pics 2 and 3, definitely toss that grey seal. That's not even on there originally.
And the felt.

I'll just cut the gray one off and replace the original......Done deal...:thumb...Notice the nifty drain which goes through a hole in the base .It serves a two fold purpose...1) a drain port and 2) it keeps the seal in place.

Is the new mast section sliding through freely now? Did you need to file the joint?
I can do the older style alum case antennas with my eyes closed, but I've only done about a half dozen of the later slimlines over the years.

I'm going to mess w/it on the w/e.I probably should file it down a bit though....It's a little tight as the original was...The snug fit really put a lot of strain on the nylon cord , probably contributing to it's demise.the mast is straight though...No bends....I'm really excited to get this bad boy back in, and still waiting for Corvette Central's part.:chuckle....CHEERS!!!

and still waiting for Corvette Central's part
Good luck with that!
I bought 3 repair kits from GMPartsDirect about a year ago. Out of curiousity I emailed them the other day about the availability of the repair kits as they still list the part no. on their site.
Got back a reply..."Discontinued, no longer available from GM".

NOW I know why a guy I know has 13 power antennas, mostly NOS, that he's been sitting on! Waiting for the day when that becomes the only option! Replace instead of repair.

Maybe I should hold onto mine for a few more years......

That ain't no joke Mike.I'm thinking of buying door #4 for a back-up....I've scoured the country, and yes, they are discontinued and all out.I could probably fabricate the repair in an emergency though. The car is 30 years old now and now I know why they are called antiques.Parts are starting to get hard to come by.....Today is my 20th anniversary so I better take the little lady out instead of fixing it......Otherwise I may not have another one.:boogieI'll let you know how it worked out......The repair that is.:w

She bench tested like a champ Mike:J:J.....I can't wait to see her work in the car again after 15 years!:thumb
