I have a 97 A4.. The fuel door gets stuck sometimes. I have to hit the button in the console like 5 times to get it to open. Is there an emergency cable or something i can pull in case it just decides not to open one day? Thanks

Yes, there is. It's a wire cable inside the trunk/hatch on the drivers side. I've not used mine but remember reading about it.

Thanks ive never seen it do you know exactly were its at? Thanks again. Do i have to remove something to get to it?

I live on a 1/2 mile dirt road. Have to go all the way to get home. The dry, fine dust is awful.

I had one that did the same thing. The pin (at the fuel door) gets dry and will not release. Try lubricating the pin with a silicone type lubricant.

Hopefully, it will take care of the sticking.

I looked up the fuel door opening solenoid and it is behind the left speaker. What you would have to do is manually pull on the release cable after removing the speaker panel.

same with ours the manual pull wire lies along the trunk area below the rear speaker. since ours is a vert there is also the vert fiberglass release wire laying around in the trunk

Yes it is on the drivers side near the speaker. You have to look up and reach up for it. Try spraying the pin with WD-40 or slicone and push it in with you finger a couple of times to get it looser.
