fuel pump leak

on outlet side of pump of 427 brass fitting was loose took off and mangled looking o ring was in there put back with teflon tape got it tight to line up for line to carb now have leak at pump should there be an o ring in there or use something other than tef tape thanks John
 
Teflon tape and fuel systems don't mix well, sounds like you need a new pump from your description.
 
No 'O' rings from the factory, just tapered pipe threads and inverted 45* flair fittings.

Use a dab of Permatex #2 on the pipe threads to lubricate/seal the joint.
