I would like to know if I replace my factory mechanical fuel pump if I need to get the one with 3 lines(inlet, to carb, and return line)? I have all the vacuum canister lines deleted as there is no smog equipment on the car. None needed in Illinois. Can I get a mechanical pump with just the inlet and outlet lines and disregard the return line?

You can get a 2 line (in/out) pump. But my question is why? The 3rd line is a return to the tank- that's all it does. As close as things are on a Vette, there's lots of heat build up and not having the fuel return to the tank could possibly cause some problems in hot weather with vapor lock. Use a 3 line pump and avoid that possibility.

If you elect to go with the 2 line pump, make sure you plug the return line. When the tank is full it could slosh some gas out. And the steel line on the frame is pretty close to the exhaust manifold.

makes sense to me...i am going to go ahead with the stock pump. what brand would you recommend? i called a couple local auto parts stores and they offer a couple choices. is there an original ac delco pump available?
